PRF/BioGel

BEFORE & AFTERCARE

PRF and BioGel treatments use your body’s own blood-derived growth factors to restore volume, improve skin quality, and support natural collagen regeneration. Because these treatments are regenerative and biologically driven, proper before and after care is essential to optimize results, minimize swelling or bruising, and support long-term healing.

What to Do Before Your Treatment

Preparing your body properly helps ensure a smoother treatment experience and better results:

  • If approved by your healthcare provider, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements such as ibuprofen, Advil®, Aleve®, Excedrin®, vitamin E, and fish oil for at least two weeks prior

  • Avoid alcohol for at least two days before your appointment to reduce bruising and swelling

  • Stay well hydrated in the days leading up to treatment

  • Avoid arriving on an empty stomach

  • Consider taking Arnica tablets 2–3 days before treatment to help minimize bruising

These steps support healthy platelet concentration and improve overall treatment outcomes.

What to Do After Your Treatment

Most patients return to normal daily activities shortly after treatment. To support healing and allow PRF or BioGel to settle properly, we recommend the following:

  • Stay well hydrated to support collagen remodeling

  • Avoid touching or massaging the treated areas for 24 hours

  • Sleep with your head elevated the first night to reduce swelling

  • Use gentle, medical-grade skincare and daily sunscreen

  • Take Arnica tablets for 5–7 days after treatment to reduce bruising

  • If approved by your provider, avoid blood-thinning medications for at least 6 hours post-treatment

Mild redness, swelling, or fullness is normal and typically resolves within 1–2 days.

Important Precautions to Follow

To reduce irritation and protect your results, please avoid the following for 48 hours unless otherwise directed:

  • Strenuous exercise or high-heat activities

  • Alcohol consumption

  • Saunas, hot tubs, or excessive heat exposure

  • Wearing makeup for the first 24 hours

You may take an antihistamine such as Benadryl® or Claritin® for a few days if recommended to help reduce inflammatory response.

When to Seek Medical Attention

PRF and BioGel treatments are very safe since they use your own blood products. However, contact your provider immediately if you notice:

  • Unusual or worsening discoloration

  • Increasing pain or swelling beyond the expected timeframe

  • Any symptoms that feel abnormal or concerning

Prompt communication helps ensure your safety and optimal healing.

A Quick Takeaway

PRF and BioGel treatments offer natural, regenerative rejuvenation with minimal downtime when proper care is followed. Volume may be noticeable immediately, with continued improvement developing gradually over 2–6 months as collagen and tissue regeneration progress. Many patients require a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart for best results.
